Academic Discussion · Set 12

Fixed WeLearn practice with the published time limit for this task family. Your response stays in this browser.

Your professor is teaching a class on society and technology. Write a post responding to the professor's question. Contribute your own opinion and reasons, and add to the discussion.

Professor Haddad: Some schools have started teaching computer programming to all students from a young age. Do you think programming should be a required subject for all children? Why or why not?

Student (Yuki): I think it should be required. Technology is part of every job now, and learning to code teaches logical thinking. For example, even students who study biology or art benefit from coding when they need to organize data or build a simple project website.

Student (Pablo): I'm not so sure. Not everyone will work in technology, and schools already have a full timetable. Maybe it should be optional. For example, my school already struggles to fit in music and art classes, so adding another required subject could push those out entirely.

Write a response of at least 100 words. State your position clearly, give reasons and an example, and refer to a classmate's point where relevant.

The timer starts when you press the button. Submitting or reaching 00:00 closes the response; reloading does not reset the clock.
