Official format versus WeLearn strategy
Official format: IELTS Academic assesses Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Listening, Reading and Writing now have complete WeLearn practice routes.
WeLearn strategy: study is separated by skill: Listening uses replayable audited sets and printable worksheets; Reading combines official question types with skills such as skimming and scanning; Writing separates Task 1, Task 2, the rubric and annotated models.
Writing
Task 1 (visual data) and Task 2 (argumentative essay). 60 minutes in total.
Reading
True/False/Not Given · Matching · Multiple Choice. 60 minutes and 40 questions.
Listening
Four parts and 40 questions. Replay, pause and rewind the audio, practise without a timer, or download a student PDF.
Speaking
Face-to-face interview: Part 1 (introduction), Part 2 (long turn) and Part 3 (discussion).
