Drills mixtos

Aplica habilidades dentro del formato actual

Estos drills mezclan una familia TOEFL Reading actual con una habilidad WeLearn. No inventa una cuarta tarea oficial ni cambia el formato ETS; sirven para transferir estrategia a preguntas reales.

Drill 1 · Complete the Words · logical-relationships

Complete the Words + contrast clue

The first trial produced unclear results; however, the second trial offered _____ evidence that the method worked.

Which word best completes the sentence?

  1. convincing
  2. temporary
  3. unrelated
  4. accidental

Explicación: However signals a contrast with unclear results. Convincing evidence fits the positive contrast.

Evidencia: unclear results; however, the second trial offered...

Trampa: Temporary and unrelated are possible adjectives, but they do not complete the contrast created by however.

Drill 2 · Read in Daily Life · text-organisation

Daily Life + message structure

Subject: Library room update. The group study rooms on the third floor are closed today for painting. Individual desks on the second floor remain open, and reservations for tomorrow are not affected.

What is the structure of the notice?

  1. Change today, available alternative, and unaffected future reservations
  2. Complaint, apology, and request for payment
  3. List of books, author biography, and room map
  4. Old policy, historical cause, and scientific evidence

Explicación: The notice gives the immediate change, then an alternative, then clarifies what is not affected.

Evidencia: closed today... remain open... reservations for tomorrow are not affected

Trampa: The message does not ask for payment or discuss books, authors, or history.

Drill 3 · Read an Academic Passage · time-management

Academic Passage + when to move on

A question asks about the purpose of one example in a long paragraph. You found the example, but two options still seem possible after forty seconds.

What is the best next move under timed practice?

  1. Mark the example and surrounding sentence, choose the stronger option, and return later if time remains.
  2. Reread the entire passage twice before answering.
  3. Ignore the surrounding sentence and choose the option with familiar words.
  4. Skip every remaining academic passage question.

Explicación: This protects time while keeping an evidence trail. Returning later is better than getting stuck without a plan.

Evidencia: The target is one example and the surrounding sentence, not the entire passage.

Trampa: Familiar words are not evidence, and rereading the full passage repeatedly is a time trap.
