Campus lighting experiment

A university replaced several bright pathway lights with lower, shielded lamps. Although some students initially worried that the paths would feel less safe, nighttime surveys showed fewer complaints about glare and no increase in reported accidents. As a result, the facilities office expanded the design to two additional walkways.
