TOEFL iBT Writing
Writing no se entrena memorizando plantillas largas. Se entrena dominando la intención de cada tarea: construir una oración precisa, escribir un email adecuado y participar en una discusión académica con una postura clara.
Formato oficial: ETS lista tres tareas actuales de TOEFL iBT Writing: Build a Sentence, Write an Email y Write for an Academic Discussion.
Estrategia WeLearn: entrenamos cada tarea por separado y luego usamos mixed drills para reconocer intención, formato y estructura antes de escribir. Integrated Writing se mantiene como síntesis/legacy, no como tarea principal actual.

Respuestas explicadas
Drill 1 · Build a Sentence
Build a Sentence requires one complete sentence with a clear relationship. Option A gives a cause-result sentence without email framing or discussion response.
Estructura: Main clause + because-clause
Trampa: Option B is an email opening, and option C responds to a class discussion. Both may be useful in TOEFL Writing, but not for this microtask.
Siguiente paso: Use this structure inside Write an Email when you need to justify a request.
Drill 2 · Write an Email
Write an Email needs a recipient-aware opening, purpose and polite request. Option B clearly identifies the audience and the action needed.
Estructura: Greeting + purpose + polite request
Trampa: Option A is only a sentence, and option C sounds like Academic Discussion rather than a direct email to an office.
Siguiente paso: Add details: flight date, reason, and a polite closing action.
Drill 3 · Write for an Academic Discussion
Academic Discussion needs a position plus development. Option B acknowledges another side and then gives a clear opinion with a reason.
Estructura: Concession + position + reason
Trampa: Option A is an email question. Option C is a good sentence, but it is too limited as a class contribution.
Siguiente paso: Extend it with a concrete example or connection to a classmate’s idea.
Drill 4 · Build a Sentence
Option A is a complete conditional sentence. It states the condition and the result in one controlled structure.
Estructura: If-clause + result clause
Trampa: Option B is an invitation email. Option C sounds like Academic Discussion because it takes a position.
Siguiente paso: Use this conditional pattern to make opinions less absolute in Academic Discussion.
Drill 5 · Write an Email
An email to a professor needs respectful tone, apology or context, and a specific request. Option C does that directly.
Estructura: Greeting + apology/context + specific request
Trampa: Option A is a general sentence. Option B is a discussion stance, not a direct message to the professor.
Siguiente paso: Add one concise reason and attach or mention documentation if appropriate.
Drill 6 · Write for an Academic Discussion
Option C gives a nuanced position and reason, which fits Academic Discussion. It can respond to classmates while still adding an original idea.
Estructura: Partial agreement + better policy + reason
Trampa: Option A is a strong sentence, but it does not fully enter a discussion. Option B uses email framing.
Siguiente paso: Add a short example, such as outlining help versus paragraph generation.
Drill 7 · Build a Sentence
Option B is one complete cause-result sentence. It does not introduce an email audience or a discussion stance.
Estructura: Subject + modal/can + because-clause
Trampa: Option A has the right topic but becomes an email. Option C is a discussion contribution because it reacts to a policy idea.
Siguiente paso: Practice removing greetings and opinions when the task only asks for a controlled sentence.
Drill 8 · Write an Email
Option C identifies the recipient, apologizes, explains the conflict and offers a concrete alternative.
Estructura: Greeting + apology + reason + alternative
Trampa: Option A is only a general sentence. Option B sounds like Academic Discussion because it argues for a policy.
Siguiente paso: Add a polite closing and, if needed, mention the exact time of the review session.
Drill 9 · Write for an Academic Discussion
Option A gives a clear position, adds a condition and explains why the condition matters. That is a developed discussion contribution.
Estructura: Position + condition + reason
Trampa: Option B is a useful sentence but underdeveloped for discussion. Option C is an email-style question.
Siguiente paso: Add a specific example, such as engineering students helping with a public design project.
Drill 10 · Build a Sentence
Option C is one controlled contrast sentence. It uses although to compare a benefit of printed books with a benefit of online textbooks.
Estructura: Although-clause + main contrast
Trampa: Option A becomes an email. Option B is a simple opinion and would need more context in Academic Discussion.
Siguiente paso: Use this contrast pattern when a discussion answer needs nuance, but keep it as one sentence for this task.
Drill 11 · Write an Email
Option B is a direct, respectful clarification email with a precise question about the instructions.
Estructura: Greeting + context + clarification question
Trampa: Option A is only a sentence. Option C is a discussion-style policy argument rather than a message to the professor.
Siguiente paso: Close with thanks and mention the presentation date if timing matters.
Drill 12 · Write for an Academic Discussion
Option C takes a balanced position and explains both sides. It fits a class discussion because it evaluates a policy, not just a feature.
Estructura: Balanced position + contrast + reason
Trampa: Option A is an email request. Option B is a correct sentence but too narrow for a full discussion response.
Siguiente paso: Add a course example, such as reviewing a complex statistics lecture before a live problem-solving session.
